The Process
MAKING THE DESIGN
I cut my designs out of black paper using an x-acto knife. Before I begin cutting, I draw out my idea in white pencil. Though I generally follow my sketch, I often stray from my original plan and wind up improvising.
MAKING THE SCREEN
Making the screen is a surprisingly quick process. I do most of my silk screening at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island.
HEAT SETTING THE PRODUCT
After I am done inking my apparel I heat set the fabric under a hot lamp. This helps the ink settle into the fabric so that the design is more resistant to washing.
The Last Step
The last step is getting my products out into the world to the people I love! Originally, I sold my work over Facebook, but when my inventory got too large, I created ELOUETTE. This is my friend Joanna wearing one of the sweaters I made for the Women's March.
